I bagged a Silver Orinoco card from eBay to try and follow the instructions I found here:

I'm using OS 8.1 on my PB1400, and would like to stay there for the time being. Has anyone used the WavLAN version 6 drivers with success (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/4835)? I tried putting in my network's name in the control panel, but didn't get any response. The version 7 Orinoco drivers require 8.6.

I do have a Windows laptop, and threw the card in there. Though it sees my wireless access point and says it has a strong signal, it's yet to grab a valid IP, and keeps defaulting to something goofy in 164.x.x.x. I've updated the firmware using and drivers for Windows, and am not having any better result. Have it set up for DHCP, and have tried static addresses as well.

It sounds as though you might not be putting the WEP key in there? (The key has to be prefixed with, iirc, an H in the Orinoco software if they key is hexadecimal on the WAP)
