After I installed a 40gb hard drive into my 3400c, my little square fan turns on all the time.

Also, now that the power management board in my 3400 is crazy and needs to be replaced, the fan turns on and off constanly for no apparent reason.

I think it is mostly to cool the area between the battery and the hard drive. If you look under the lip of the 3400 right near the hard drive, there is actually a grille there. Its pretty neato.

When we were disassembling the 3400 that was non
working, we saw a small square fan located under the
clicker area. To my knowledge, I have never felt or
heard this run. This appeared to be the only fan
like device in the whole inside of the pb. Is this
the only general heat dissipating device inside the
3400? Has anyone else arranged additional ventilation
in their pb?
