In my experience M$ Word doesn't really need a format change--just save
your document to a DOS formatted disk.  The IBM-style machine you then
open it on will be able to read the document directly.  At the college I
work at part-time, we use this trick all the time--people don't realize
that a Mac is smarter than the IBMs since it can read HFS, MS-DOS and (on
our older Macs) ProDOS, while the IBM's are more "stupid" since they can
only read their own format.  :)
