then "KG" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked: >I wonder if it would be possible to somehow take the mechanism out of a CDRW >designed for a WallStreet or Lombard and put it inside the casing of a 3400 >CD-ROM module? It's really unlikely anything designed for Wallstreet would work in 3400/Kanga and certainly nothing for Lombard/Pismo would work. Well, actually _anything_ can be made to work with enough time and resources, I mean 'made to work' without extraordinary measures. See my still-incomplete-EBM-page for some details: <http://mywebpages.comcast.net/macdan/ebms.html> VST had the resources to build an optical EBM for 3400/Kanga from the ground up, but I'm not aware they made anything. I'm not specifically familiar with any VST CD-RW EBM for Wallstreet, though I seem to recall (??) they sold something . . . anyone else recall any details? and Hugo Diaz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked: >On the same train of thought, Can I put some CD-RW mechanism in the >1400 casing? Most any 'slim' CD-RW can be installed easily into a 12x 1400 EBM, but you'll bump up against 'The SW Problem'. Well, actually the lack-of-SW-problem. The only app of which I'm aware which can (allegedly) burn with a CDRW in a 1400 is 'B's Recorder Gold', but I have yet to discover a retail source for B's. I tried every other Mac CD burning solution I had and none would acknowledge a CD-RW's drive's presence. hth, Dan K -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
