Seems whenever I try to use either my GV Powerport Platinum Pro or Dayna
Communicard Ethernet PC cards, my 1400 freezes after the first extension
loads up. Strangely enough, if I remove the card before booting, it
boots fine. Why would the card being installed cause the extensions to
lock up?

I had a similar issue with my PCMCIA CF reader plus CF card installed at boot on my 5300cs, except I would get a Bus Error bomb and have to restart.

You might try putting a space before the name of the PC Card extension, so that it loads before other extensions. That's what I had to do to get my 5300cs to boot with the CF card installed. You may also need to do that with the extensions for the cards you mentioned.

Please post back as to whether or not this works - it adds to the body of knowledge for these older machines.
