Correct me if I am wrong...
In the old days, cell phones had to be used in conjunction w/ modems, and needed cables to connect the cell phones to the modems...
But now, with cell phones themselves being able to connect, is it not true
that they can simply be connected directly to the computer w/o a seperate modem?
And if that IS true... how do they connect to the laptop? My old Powerbook does not have a USB port. I have seen some "serial" cables that look like they're for PC serial ports. Do I simply connect my cell phone serially to my Powerbook, and use it?
One reason I went with my StarTAC was that it has the built in modem function. I use it with a Motorola Data cable and a MiniDIN8 to DE-9 adapter. Works great albeit at 14,400.
