I'll be following this too.. I have a 1400 G3 333 which I haven't used in 8 months, and the battery is acting totally dead. It was a new battery last year... Anything to be done?

Hi, hope someone will be able to help me out with this. My mom got an old PowerBook 1400c for use at work, but she's kind of- afraid to turn it on. So, it's been sitting on the side table in the TV room for a while and I thought I might be able to use it for some recording while she thinks about whether she'll actually attempt to use it or not. I installed ProTools 3.4 as described on this website <http://www.oakbog.com/PT3NuBus.html> because 5.0 wouldn't work; but this isn't doing much better. In powermix mode I can record a track fine- but when I go to add a second track (or play the recorded track), the machine locks up shortly after it begins to play the first recorded track. Anyone have any experience with ProTools on a 1400? Is there a different version that works better? Or am I doing something wrong...

This is a 233Mhz G3 upgraded machine, 64MB RAM, 20GB hard drive running OS 9.1. The latest version of OMS is installed as well.

Also, the battery seems like it's dead- but just on the off chance that it isn't, is there a third party battery reconditioning application I can use? The Apple one didn't do anything... the battery first registers as empty when you stick it in the machine, but after a few seconds it suddenly 'becomes' full, keeping in mind when you unplug the AC adapter the machine shuts off immediately. I'm trying to avoid a new battery... I'm not liking the prices I've been seeing- $98 being the cheapest so far.

Thanks,
-Adam
