I set up a VGA manual switchbox from cheaper cables (total outlay for box + cables, $16). It works pretty well except for there is some slight ghost imaging due to the (I assume) noise on the cables since they run near the monitors (surprise) and pick up some EMF. I was actually surprised at how good things look, actually.

Is it silly to think that wrapping them in foil and electrically attaching it to the case of the switchbox could improve things?

I could upgrade the cables but locally they start at $20, and I'm not sure they are that much better quality for the $. I'd spend it on SCSI cables :) for the shielding but I'm not always going to have this set up and certainly didn't want to drop the money a real KVM switchbox would cost (about $140 at CompuUSA for all the bits). $9 switchbox and $4 cables fit the need.

Thanks,

Brian
