I figure you're best shot at getting another display is poking around eBay for a broken laptop with an apparantly undamaged screen and pay rock bottom for it. You could use it with an external monitor if you wanted. Or it could make a good embedded controler: I will eventually turn an LC II into the brain of a Macquarium I will someday build. It'll monitor tank conditions and maybe even be able to alter them if they change. Or you could give the whole thing to me and I play with 68k linux on it :)
