I have read with interest your "longish" post to the PowerBooks List, a hardware
discussion list for Pre-G3 PowerBooks, which your WallStreet is not. To the extent I
understand your narrative of the non-hardware problem, there seems to be a simple
solution. Have you considered a clean installation of OS 9.1 or 9.2, either of which
includes all Apple Language Kits? Such Mac OS CDs are widely available from a number
of online dealers, such as MegaMacs.com, HardcoreMac.com, and OWC.
