Subject: Was: 540c won't start up/NOW: (again) what modem is inside??

Still, I'm not able to determine what brand of modem is inside the
machine. I've recently purchased the book and replaced the pre-existing
OS without backing it up (can one be more stupid???). My Global
Village drivers won't install, as the machine says there's not a Global
Villege modem inside. Is there any way (apart from taking the thing
apart) to know what modem is there inside and get the appropriate
drivers?? And yes, there's a modem, the port is there, thanks for
previous suggestions. Running OS 7.5.5.

cheers, gianfranco

It's a Global Village PowerPort Mercury, unique to the 500-series. You can get the drivers from my dotmac site here:
