Have you tried the software Mach Speed Control http://www.xlr8.com/updates
It is much more stable on my Sonnet G3/466 PB1400, than the origional software. It also let me set the backside cache speed from 186mhz to 233mhz. Its not a cureall, but is a improvement for my machine.
