Everything you said is accurate. You can install a hacked version of Apple's USB support software and shave a USB card, or you can get MCE to do the actual modification and it will fit properly. > Also it appears that Xpostfacto will install 10.1 on a > 3400. I haven't, but I know someone who did do it, and to say that the 3400 was "running" 10.1 would be a misnomer. Crawling was more like it. You could time the screen refresh with a sundial, and that was with a 240 MHz version. > > Lets see I've still got original install disks for > 7.6.1, 8(8.1), 8.5(8.6), 9, 9.2.1, 10.1, 10.2 and > 10.3. OS 9.1 or 9.2 works best because a 3400 is capable of running it well (you'd have to hack 9.2 onto it, though); OS 8.6 is nearly as functional and somewhat faster. It flies in 7.6 or 8.1, but that's kind of a waste of a still very-good PowerBook. I run 9.1 on my 3400c/240, but replaced the Finder, TCP/IP and OT components with the versions from 9.2.2 for a little bit of a performance boost. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
