I could (and may) just buy a replacement lid portion from the PowerBook Guy,

Are they near one of the hinge areas? That can be dangerous, even if they are not close and are not bad now. Stress from opening and closing will make them spread surprisingly quickly.
The "slippery" plastic that laptops are made from, the only plastic repair that really does any good is to "re-melt" it with methyl chloride or similar nasty solvent. Epoxies etc. don't stick well, don't waste your time.
Fortunately, you can get small amounts of methyl chloride over-the-counter at hobby shops, under the name "Ambroid ProWeld". Places that sell model airplanes etc (good places anyway) should have this.
You can, and I have, temporarily fixed cracks near hinges on laptops with high-temp hot glue, but it never lasts. The plus to using the hot glue, you can remelt it when it cracks using a soldering iron, or if it's near a place where you worry about gluing the laptop case together across a joint- if you need to make the shell apart, just melt the hotglue off with the soldering iron.
The PowerbookGuy has a nice assortment of parts, but he is rather proud of them. You should be able to do much better on ebay, for case plastics if you are not in a hurry.
