Bookies,
I'm new to Powerbooks and trying to shore up my basic knowledge
of them. I have a pair of BTI batteries that are identical down to the last
number of the serial number being 2 digits different. One of them is
seemingly dead as a doornail, can't be seen by Intelligent Battery or by
EMMpathy 2.1 The other is testing great as far as I can tell. I charged it
overnight and EMMpathy said it had 2:15 runtime and was 100% and the
capacity was the same as factory default. I left the machine running on that
battery while I went out, and after three hours and a few minutes (when I
came back home) the machine was asleep. I woke it up and there were warnings
on the screen that A. the screen had been dimmed, B. it was running on
"reserve power" and C. it had 15 minutes of this power left. Questions: are
all these warnings to be expected? what would be an accurate description of
the good battery (good, great, super, so-so, odd, etc?). Is there another
battery program that I might try to reach the dead battery with? (It does
not seem reasonable that it is the cells being dead since it is identical to
the good battery and the numbers so close) I'm thinking it is the "smart"
chip or something outside my understanding. TIA
