Hi Roger/Clark or any interested party, I can't locate the 68HC05 microprocessor chip. I searched on both the logic and the PMU boards. Please indicate where it might be or how to identify it. Thanks
I've never seen one on a Mac, I'm just familiar with it in other uses.
Look for a Motorola or Hitachi chip with an Apple copyright. Or just look for the Apple Copyright. Note that is copyright and year, not just an Apple part number. That's because it has ROM code in it that is protected by copyright, just like the system ROMs.
