<Capable of being installed on any and all supported models. AKA, "retail" set.
A set which comes with a specific model computer is usually installable only on that model. Upgrade sets are usually, but not always, installable on any model (and OS) which meets the prerequisites.> I found out that these disks came with a PB 190 (!!!) which had originally been purchased (used) for a friend, but the friend had broken that PB (don't ask). At the time my bf bought that PB 190 -- estimated six or so years ago, he had told the seller he wanted disk copies of all software on the system, and the seller made him copies -- which included the full installation of OS 7.6. I don't know if the friend used the disks on that 190 or not, or what OS is on it (and there's no way to find out since it's now dead), but having learned this today rather surprised me that I couldn't install OS 7.6 on *my* PB 190 when I'd tried it over the weekend. But, a sudden inspiration hit me, perhaps to heck with 7.6 and straight to 8.1 for my PB. :-) ~Yersinia. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
