I've got a chance at a good deal on a 5400 RPM Seagate notebook drive, and I'm hoping that someone here has tried a 5400 RPM in a 3400c before and knows what kind of performance gain such an upgrade provides. Is it worth the money to swap out from a 4200 RPM Ultra66 Toshiba drive, or are the IDE controller and system bus too slow to really benefit from the speedier drive?
The 3400c in question is already maxed out...3400/240, 144 megs of RAM, OS 9.1 with 9.2.2 Finder. Just trying to squeeze a little more out of the old warhorse short of trying to locate a Kanga logic board. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
