Anyhoo, the IBM/Hitachi Travelstar is, at least from a logic point of view, a fairly old design that has been updated for the last 4 years or so. It has been extensively updated, mostly the mechanism, but it's not a new design. This means it is likely that the IBM/Hitachi design is going to be more compatible.
