Hi Mad Dog been following the thread for a while and even though i have not had these symptoms on a powerbook i have on a G3 266 desktop i had.
after trying everything to get it going again as a last resort i replaced the cpu and it worked. I know that the cpu on the 3400 is soldered to the board but i think that might be your problem.
