My 5300 started acting "PowerManager funny".

The startup button won't start my 5300c Powerbook from
a fully charged battery (I just get a static type
noise). The startup button does work when the charger
is plugged in. The machine will also startup from
just the battery by using the reset button. It also
charges the battery fine. Tried a second charged
battery, no better. Tried the PowerManagerReset
Utility but it didn't fix the problem. Any ideas on
what to try next? Is the Power Manager still
corrupted but the utility can't reset it?

Sounds like it.

Pull the batteries, unplug the computer, press the power switch a couple of times, then re-install the batteries. That should kick it back up.

It *could* be a bad pram battery, too.
