If your intention is just to have something to play mp3 and other

SoundApp is much more useful.

Perhaps if your running on a 6100/60 with OS 9, iTunes is slow.

Nothing can beat iTunes I still use it on any machine that can run it. I
always prefer the Apple-branded products to the third party, and I'm sure
this person probably wants the *allure* of running iTunes.

I agree - if you want to keep any sort of tabs on your MP3 collection iTunes is the only really smart way of doing it. SoundJam was almost there, but it needed that extra bit of development that Apple did when they bought C&G to make it work that well. I use iTunes 2 on my 3400c and it;s great - isn't too much of a CPU hog, considering it's decoding MPEG audio. I think any MP3 player will hammer the CPU in a 603 Powerbook, I used to have problems with them slowing down a 300MHz iBook and a 400MHz G3 afterall.
