If your intention is just to have something to play mp3 and other audio formats, I recommend skipping iTunes. It's slow bloatware. SoundApp is much more useful.
Perhaps if your running on a 6100/60 with OS 9, iTunes is slow.
Nothing can beat iTunes I still use it on any machine that can run it. I always prefer the Apple-branded products to the third party, and I'm sure this person probably wants the *allure* of running iTunes.
Allure? hehehehe. :)
I'm not trying to knock iTunes per se. Just recommending folx use the right tool for the job. If you want to buy tunes, play DRM ACC files, or use the streaming radio stations, iTunes works well. But for the rest, iTunes it bloated - it steals far more of your Mac from you than necessary.
