Good info--and a lot of the drop-off places in my area are not only
convenient, but were ones that I knew about (most cell phone stores take
back batteries.)

One place not listed that I know takes batteries is Radio Shack--from
mercury button batteries from watches to cell phone and computer
batteries.

No rechargable battery is safe to put in the trash--even the "environment
friendly" ones should be recycled. It's the best way to keep heavy metals
from contaminating ground and water supplies.

Later.................Howard
