No but there almost was. The space is too small for a conventional CD-ROM drive. Apple was promoting the idea of a mini-CD drive in the industry but found no interest. I guess they didn't want to go it alone. It would have been difficult if they had. I doubt too many people would have published software or music on the smaller CDs. And when slot loaders came along it would have been a real mess.


There are floppy drives, ZIP drives and the weight saving device (empty box with room for PC Cards) that fit there. I think someone produced an AC power supply that fit there but I might be thinking of a different model.
