I suspect that it needs USB2 and you get USB1 on your 3400.

Ok I finally tried shaving a cardbus usb card (Macally
Part #UH276) and it works great.
I couldn't get that USB 1.4.1 update to load directly onto the machine so I loaded it on another computer with 9.2.2 then just grabbed the extensions and pulled them over to the 3400, rebooted and I've got USB.
So far my USB Smart Media adapter works in it so I can dump my digital camera directly onto it. Also my 128 Meg Thumb Drive works as well. The only thing that I can't seem to get to work is my Iomega ZipCD/650.
I've got Toast 4.2 Deluxe that is a left over from an old now long dead SCSI burner I used to have. The Iomega is usually hooked up to my iMac/350 and I just use X's built in burning for that but I'd like the ability to burn directly from the 3400 at times.
When I tried using my version of Toast on the 3400 it wouldn't recognize the drive, though cd's, cdr's and cdrw's that are put in it while its hooked up mount and are usable by the computer.
Basically my question is has anyone else managed to get a usb cd burner to work with a 3400?
I don't want to buy a newer version of Toast if its not going to help. I've got one of those SCSI adapters for my powerbook so I suppose I could just pick up a SCSI burner on eBay but I'd rather be able to use what I've already got.
