The Proxim Skyline Card, model 473a, will work fine in a G3 Powerbook running OS 8.1 to 9.2.2. Shareware or freeware drivers are needed to use in OSX.
The 473a card is a 16-Bit PCMCIA card. You can identify the 473a card by the FCC ID # PD5LMWP100 on the back label of the card. Also it should have a sticker on the back of the antenna that says Copyright 2000, Proxim Inc. Not all Skyline cards are Mac compatible. The majority of Skyline cards on eBay are not mac compatable. They use a different chip set and drivers are only available for Windows computers. Before you buy off eBay, check with the seller for the FCC id number. For a vendor who has them new in the box, check out this link. Less than $20.00. http://www.emicrox.com/eShop/product.aspx?advanced=1&cid=10011&attr=Wireless+Net working&pid=875478 I have bought from them before, and have no complaints.
