Hello Drew, Bruce and Brian (taking the weekend off?),

Trouble is, the webcam SW (EvoCam and Oculus) only
operate if AppleTalk is turned off. Both file sharing
and using AppleShare require AppleTalk on. See the
following quote from Apple:
Quote..
"This article explains why you Connected Via Apple
Remote Access But Can't See Shared Disks.

Open the Chooser and click the AppleShare icon.

Shared disks should appear on the right side of the
Chooser.

If you still don't see any shared disks, and your
Chooser has a box labeled Zones, choose a different
zone (some networks don't have zones)

This article explains why It Says Apple Remote Access
Is Not Installed Correctly.

This message sometimes appears if AppleTalk is turned
off.

Make sure AppleTalk is turned on in the Chooser. .."

In short, althoughthe 3400 server's computer name is
visible under AppleShare, I cannot access the folders
(none are listed, neither is the name of the HDD
after you enter the password).

Even is they were visible, I would still need -
a script of some sort to turn AppleTalk on/off &
reboot the 3400 (probably mandatory), launch and
shutdown the webcam SW at the appropriate times, as
well as launch Remote Access and FileSharing CPs (the
latter needs AppleTalk on, for sure) to enable me to
dial-in.

If AppleTalk was not an issue, I could leave all apps
running all the time and dial-in, I think. Has anyone
seen a surveillance kit with Mac SW for sale?

George
