The Connectix Webcam SW allows me to specify which port the cam is connected to. This is important because you won't get an image if the wrong port is chosen, just garble.
Apps such as StripCam and others (e.g. EvoCam) will default to the wrong port also. (QuikCam SW works ok but with the modem port.) The 3400 has a combo modem/printer port as well as an internal modem (uses the same port as the ethernet).
Is there a serial port utility or CP that will tell a serial peripheral device to use the modem port and not the printer component of that double-duty port?
It is simply a single serial port titled "Printer/Modem" port. It is really just the Printer Port. It is called "Printer/Modem" because if you don't use the built in modem it is where you plug in an external modem as well as a printer.
If a piece of software is supposed to be using the Modem Port itneeds to be selected in that software.
