Boris Herman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked:Was there anyone successful in soldering the additional 512 vram on
to which Mad Dog replied:Hmm.... Dan, was that you that tried this ?Nope, that would be Drew Kershaw, the maven of the 5300, around here at least. Dunno how he made out though. Drew?

Hi guys.
I haven't touched this project in over a year. The board has 1 MB (512 & 512) soldered on, but the 2nd 512kB didn't seem to work the last time I tested it. I've only got one 'ce display, though, and it's in use on my genuine 5300ce. I'm thinking that the issue is that I didn't make good contact with all the solder pads. One of these days I'll go back and re-solder it all. Another thought is that I might be missing a cap or resistor somewhere. But from a board-to-board comparison, I haven't found any of those yet... I haven't tried buzzing out the circuit yet, either...
Anyway, I can't think of any technical reason why this wouldn't work if you got the connections made correctly.
Hmm. I never got my 8MB VRAM Wallstreet hack working, either. I soldered up the SO-DIMM SGRAM slot just fine, but with the extra 4MB in, ASP, TattleTech, and all the other tools still say that there's only 4MB installed. Also, when the extra 4MB are installed, the colors go a little funky - lots of extra greens. And the icons in the control strip get a little corrupted... So clearly something isn't right there, either. Dan, did you ever try this one?
Peace, Drew
