Hopefully these lists have the answer...
I've just got a graphite ABS, and am thinking of doing my network like this:
Connect my desktop G3 (OS X), my wired 540C (8.1) and my ABS to a switch, wireless access to 5300 (8.6 wireless via an Orinico Silver) and as of yet un-acquired other PB, then use the ABS for internet access via the modem.
Can I run the airport base station control via the ethernet side or does it have to be set up via wireless, and can I run that software under 8.6?
