I had the same problem with a 1400c. The lefthand screwhole was broken off, but the righthand one was OK. So I simply used some "super glue" to glue the lefthand side to the CD drive. That was 6 months ago. So far, it's held up OK.

New drive doors/covers can be bought, but they're very pricey. Do a search on eBay for "1400 CD".

If you've got all the original pieces, you might try some restorative surgery using Ambroid ProWeld, which is found in most crafts/hobby shops. I've had success in fixing low to medium-stress ABS plastic breaks/cracks
with it.

I just bought a PB 1400c over eBay. Looks and works beautifully. Only has 16 megs of memory. It has a floppy and a CD drive. The CD drive's front cover is broken. The holders on the back side of it are both broken and thus do not function right. How about just using super glue and gluing the top of the plastic front to the top of the drive itself? You think it would work. Otherwise, it works with the cover off, but that reveals the tiny circuits, which isn't a great idea. The drive works properly.
