I've ended up with a PB 190 which has a cable with the female end lose. Unless I press to oneside or the other, it will power up with the Mac sound but will shut off immediately. I'm going to trim the area around the hookup and solder it a bit tighter to see if that works. The female connection is definitely loose. Mine is a color 190.

The AC plug is probably loose and needs to be resoldered down. I would also reinforce the plug with some hot glue.
