Subject: Re: Wireless on old powerbooks
Craig and Andrew many thanks.
(The over vigilant anti-spam programme wiped Andrew's message before I read
it , so Andrew could you possibly send again please!)

Found some absolutely invaluable help on the web too. And its probably
Andrew's? (AlkSoft Installing Airport on unsupported Powerbooks)
Worked a treat on the 5300.
So now the 5300 can reach the Base station wirelessly and hopefully in a two
way conversation= am now going to try it all out and will keep you posted

Still have the problem of wireless on the 7600 as an ethernet is the current
connection - and am going to attempt to hack airport onto it but thats a bit
off-subject for a powerbook forum.
Although the upgraded 540CPower Pc lets you use "Wish I were" to change its
value it still then doesnt load 8.5 or 8.6 sending the same error message
regarding inability to instal on this model though I'm su8re I've used "Wish
I were" before successfully. Still its got 8.1 for now till I sort it out.
Craig, thanks for the data and the offer of help-problem is I'm about 5,000
miles away!(London UK)

""You know, come to think of it, I may have setup the Airport Base Station
w/ a
 wirless connection.

If I remember correctly, after I reset the Station, I accessed it using the
Airport software on my Powerbook. It was set on ch.11, so my Powerbook saw
it
even though it was not transmitting as of yet, and I configured it using
the
 Powerbook.""

Trying right now!
