Rewearch has shown that the VIA-based USB cards, the VIA-based Firewire 
cards, and the VIA-based Combo cards are essentially the same card, only 
with different connectors and supportive components installed. Plus a 
matching bezel, of course.

The problem may be in the VIA chip set.

However, as the 2400, 3400, 3500 and Wallstreet, for sure, and perhaps 
the Pismo and Lombard, use the obsolete TI "bridge" for Cardbus support, 
perhaps the problem is in the TI chip and not in the VIA chip. At least 
not in the USB part of the VIA chip.
