The link below is a photomacrograph of a Cardbus-modified 3400 card cage.

The same modification was done to a 3500 (Kanga), and should also be
applicable to a 2400.

To date, four modifications have been performed, on three 3400s and one
3500, and all are successful.

The arrowheads indicate where the PCMCIA "keys" were removed in order to
enable insertion of the Cardbus cards.

Each modification was performed using a specially made "paring"
instrument.

By varying the angle of the instrument, more or less material was removed
until the keys were entirely gone.

Finally, a few passes were made with the instrument held at a very low
angle, in order to smooth the affected areas.

All traces of material were removed using compressed CO2.

Each cage so modified was functionally tested using several Cardbus cards
before reassembling the subject 3400 or 3500 and repeating the tests
operationally.
