Opera is still out there, but the latest version (v7) only supports OS X. 
You need to use version 6 if you want to run MacOS 8/9.

Coincidentally, Opera was in the news a week or two ago. Opera's CTO 
wrote an editorial in "The Register" that challenged some of Microsoft's 
recent claims about internet browser standards and interoperability 
compliance.
