Hello Dave, Look in the Utilities folder that is in the Applications folder of the root HD (or boot HD). There you'll find a utility called "Disk Copy". Its use is pretty much the same as before, only the file type of the image will be a ".dmg" instead of the former .smi
If you choose "read only" or "CD/DVD Master" (anything but "compressed") when making your disk image, the resulting images, when used, mount rather quickly (TR V in about 3" in Jaguar), and yes, the games play much quicker off the image on the HD than off the CD.
