The upper portion of the hinge screws into plastic mounts in the lid housing.  
There realy is no "pretty" fix.  However, what I did was to drill a hole all 
the way through the lid (the same diameter as the hole in the hinge).  Then I 
bought screws of that diameter.  The head is on the outside of the lid and the 
nut gets covered by the plastic strip holding the microphone.  Not very pretty 
(once painted is difficult to locate but not quite "factory" condition).  
However, it realy beefs this up quite a bit...

The other problem is usually with the lower part of the hinge.  It enters an 
aluminum housing.  The screw can back out, causing hinge wobble.  I tightened 
mine up and added a little locktite to keep it from backing out...
