Thank you Bruce and R.B. for your replies.

I just handled the powerbook briefly while it was on its way to salvage,
and because of work restrictions I could not rescue it; but I thought that
it was pretty neat and felt like an IBM.

My impression was that it was smaller than the Pismo (which sounds like a nice computer).
Does the first powerbook G3 -'Kanga' have the same case covering as the Pismo?
I was looking at them on the everymac.com site. Thank you for the link R.B.

Dear List,

A while back I saw an Apple Powerbook that was small, square, and the case
had sort of a rubbery cover like an IBM ThinkPad Laptop.

Could it have been a Powerbook 2400, or do other Powerbooks have the same type of case covering?
I wish that I would have paid more attention at the time.

Small, it might have been a 2400, but I didn't think it had that kind of case.

Part of the cases on the Wallstreet/Lombard/Pismo line had the same rubbery coating, as did the Newton in it's various incarnations (but that would have been really small).

It could also have been a customized iBook or 12" Powerbook. be cool if someone's learned how to apply that coating to existing systems....
