Sorry if a blank mail came though, darn webmail. I have a 1400 with a 20 gig HD, the drive isn't booting.
I thought at first it was not spinning up but now that I've had a chance to take a look at it it might just have the boot sectors damaged. What options do I have for rebuilding the boot sectors without losing the HD contents? I have Norton 3.5.2 boot disk, somewhere I have a diskwarrior (unknown version), and I'm not sure I can find my 9.1 Cd. I've loaned a bit of my older repair tools out since I was mostly using X now. I had a SystemWorks/Mac but that may be out of the house as well. It's been a long time since I've done 9.1 stuff, what are my options for rebuilding just the boot blocks and keeping the data intact? Norton-ing was able to scan the drive and see the files, but Norton crashes when the disk drivers are loaded. I'm not sure if it's because my Norton is too old, or if it's that the disk drivers are corrupt. Or the drive could be fading, too. Can someone help with a workflow and which versions of the older Norton and Disk Warrior would work with HFS+/9.1? Thanks, Brian -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
