Chill Dude! Before you send the Sonnet back make sure it isn't the
memory modules or a socket pin connection.

The Sonnet card was acting retarded since before I installed the extra
memory. This problem never occurred before I installed this new 24mb memory
module.

How old is the machine? Sometimes problems such as this are merely years of tobacco film that gets into computers as they go throught heir thermal cycling on shutdown. this stuff gets in everywhere A thorough cleaning in a well vented area with an old toothbrush and some electronic contact cleaner may well help' Also inspect all pins and sockets on every component for dirt, corrosion, and damage. Cables, etc.

And How do you know it's not the newer card. Investigated the archive
for past posts on that card?

The Newer 250 always worked great.

Is it stable in any configuration? Start from there. Try each
 component individually.

No, it isn't.

Not even from just the Newer and the onboard RAM (soldered on)

The RAM will have numbers stamped on it/them. Reference these on the web. Find out the chip speed in terms on nanoseconds.
You already said they match in size..

Again, try each chip separately. The machine may not boot with just the 8MB onboard unless all extensions are off. I would not run the 8 MB plug in module unless that is the last one found to be good. And I would not run three modules as Like other listers I have always read that 2 were the limit of any combination.

And have you considered the problem may be the PRAM battery. Someone on this list recently said the 1400 is prone to very strange behavior on a Bad PRAM Battery.
