There is 8MB on the logic board of all 1400s.

There is a small Apple RAM slot in addition to the customer RAM slot that
can hold 2 cards.

Some early ones - 117s - shipped with a 4MB card in the Apple RAM slot - so
the min config was 12MB.  The vast majority shipped with 8MB in the Apple
slot, for the normal 16MB.
