Manfred, I may be wrong, since I haven't played around with OS X, much, but I think you can do that, actually. Or, at least, I have a good friend, whom I witnessed making a disc image within OS X, on his AlBook. Of course, I don't know how difficult it would be, or if any 3rd party apps are required.
