MadDog writes, <you can either replace the bus speed oscillator (33.33 MHz) to something faster (36 MHz suggested) which in turn will raise the CPU speed to 108 MHz.
You can also change the bus-to-CPU ratio from 3:1 to 3.5:1 which will give you 117 Mhz. I dont suggest going higher than a 4:1 ratio. You can also combine the 2 methods, but you will likely overheat.> Uh, OK, thanks. At least I don't feel so totally stupid from having thought that I could work my 5300c to death -- apparently I can and that's the last thing I'd want to do. So...it looks like in addition to finishing up my 190 preparations/refamiliarization, I'm going to somehow have to seriously curtail my 5300c usage for awhile to keep from killing it and make some noises about that monitor for the G3. I'm only barely "qualified" to perform minor surgery on a comparatively "easy access" Mac like my G3 (like replacing the floppy drive or HD, and I could probably add a RAM stick if I had to), there is no way in hell I'd dare to open up any Powerbook. ~Yersinia. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
