<What exactly is meant by "classic" ?

I've seen both software and hardware that has stated compatible with Mac
Classic.>

Classic means anything prior to OS X, that is, OS 9.2.2 and lower,
although there are Classic applications which still have minimum OS
requirements within the Classic "framework." For instance, the Toast 5
Lite CD burning software I use to make my backups, which requires 8.6 or
higher.
