I would like to get Verizon DSL (only real broadband option in my area). Is this compatible with my PB 540c? I would also like to get a wireless card (I already have the card cage). What ones work?
Generally only PCMCIA 16-bit ones work, which pretty much limits you to the Orinoco Silver cards (under their many aliases).
Moreover, I never got it to work with my 540C; everyone I've ever seen say they got a wireless card working with their 540 had the PPC upgrades.
If you can get a wired , then you're set: you need an AAUI - 10BaseT tranceiver, plug in the ethernet, set the Mac to get it's IP address autmatically and go.
Another solution would be an ethernet:wireless bridge like the D-Link DWL810, that will wirelessly connect anything with an ethernet port.
If you're doing it wirelessly, I'd go for a newer Powerbook myself. -- Bruce Johnson This is the sig who says 'Ni!' -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
