After getting my powerbook to run a wireless internet connection I was a
little dissapointed to see how slow the web browsers run. I know this is not
related to my connection speed as when I download a file it just flies!
I have tried appropriate versions of Netscape, Internet Explorer and Icab
but it still crawls! I obviously dont expect this Powerbook to run as fast
as a modern Computer but a little more speed would be nice.
Browsing is a *very* memory and processor intensive task. I would
expect all the browsers to be abysmally slow, given that you have
only 32 MB real memory.
However ... Is browsing significantly faster on complex sites when
you're directly connected to the 'net (not wireless)? If it is, then
check the speed at which your domain name lookups are running when
you're connected wirelessly. That's often a cause of slow-downs.
