i've been able to get almost any drive i stuffed into my 1400 to work. Just make sure it fits. I had a heck of a time getting one of those newer "low profile" drives to connect to the internal cable. the only thing you might have to do is partition the drive into smaller partitions if it is a large drive. i think there is an 8 gig limit to the 1400. give it a shot.
