Don't know if it'll work in your Lombard, but in my Pismo, I just
stuck a slot-loading combo drive from a dead TiBook in the carrier,
it fits, most all of the hole there is covered up so I haven't gotten
around to my original plan to Dremel-ise my old drive faceplate to fit.
Some plastic from the slot loader mechanism sticks out a couple of mm
towards the back of the Pismo where the case curves in, but it's
nothing I've been too concerned about.
